Goodbye, January. Hello, February!

Updated: Feb 6

As we wave a chilly goodbye to January, I want to extend my deepest gratitude to our entire school community for your flexibility during the past two weeks of unpredictable weather. While the recent ice storm forced us to cancel in-person classes, I was incredibly impressed by how quickly our students and staff pivoted to our online Google Meets. It wasn’t without its challenges—we are still navigating the "sidewalk hassles" and slippery walkways left behind by the freeze—but your patience and dedication to learning were heartwarming to see.

With February now underway, our classrooms are buzzing with diverse and fascinating lessons. In Social Studies, we’ve been exploring the history of love through the lenses of Aristotle, King Tut, and George and Martha Washington, while also reflecting on the wisdom found in African Proverbs and the Christian "Love Chapter" of 1 Corinthians 13. Upper school science classes dove into Kentucky waters to learn about freshwater invertebrates from David Smith, a biologist for the State of Kentucky. Finally, in honor of American Heart Month, our Primary class hit the ground running—literally! They are currently exploring heart-healthy snacks and staying active through daily dance sessions to keep those hearts strong.
